THE JACQUES release their new single ‘Weekends’ on Monday 23rd February, taken from the critically acclaimed debut Pretty DJ EP that introduced the band in November 2014.
The EP features four songs – Pretty DJ, Scum In A Bottle, Foreign Films and Weekends and was recorded at the legendary Rockfield Studios and produced by Dan Swift. A 10” vinyl and CD edition of the EP is also available.
The bastard teenage love child of cockney guitar pop and just about anything that came out of New York during the early ‘00s, The Jacques are two sets of brothers, aged 16-21, who charge their Britpop bayonets against the modern view that rock and roll with clever lyrics is dying. Brought up on a diet of The Strokes, The Ramones, The Jam, The Lemonheads and Elvis Costello, they have been tipped for great things over the next twelve months.
Signed to 25 Hour Convenience Store (The Libertine’s Gary Powell’s label) they have already started to attract attention with airplay on national radio (R1, 6 Music, XFM) as well as numerous reviews and features including NME, Clash, Loaded, The Mirror and many more.
On January 20th JACK WILLS launched their forthcoming Spring Collection with a new promotional film featuring the song ‘Foreign Films’. The film will be premiered on line and featured throughout 75 UK and 15 international stores.
The video for Pretty DJ, directed by Will Hutchinson, has already been featured on the influential C4 programme SUNDAY BRUNCH.
Live, the band is developing an incendiary set of songs, which are winning over audiences wherever they play. Since making their London debut at Hyde Park in July 2014 playing on the same bill as The Libertines, they are now set to appear at summer festivals and venues around the UK making friends wherever they plug in.
Formed in January 2014 and based in Bristol, THE JACQUES are: Fin Jacque (Voice / Guitar), Elliot Jacque (Drums), Oliver Jacque (Bass / Vocals), Jake Jacque (Guitar / Vocals)
