We’re thrilled to announce our Sunday headliner for 2018 will be Reef.
Reef are an English indie rock band from Glastonbury, originally formed in 1993, with their debut album ‘Replenish’ released in 1995.
Although their debut album made the top 10 in the UK Albums Chart the big break came a few years later after the release of their highly acclaimed second album. The album ‘Glow’ released in January 1997 was preceded by the single ‘Place Your Hands’ which reached the top 10 in the UK singles chart the year before.
The single become a instant hit both in the UK and USA. The song was featured heavily on legendary UK music TV show TFI Friday, where they changed the lyrics to “It’s your letters” to introduce that segment of the show. In the USA much of its success was down to young cable music channel M2, which frequently played the video and led to it becoming a “Buzz Clip” on the main MTV channel. On the week of its release, Glow went straight to number 1 in the UK Albums Chart and propelled the band the greater heights.
The release of ‘Rides’ in 1999 and ‘Getaway’ in 2000 were both well received and made the top 20 in the UK album chart. The band then took a break from touring and recording.
In April 2010 Reef had a reunion tour consisting of 6 UK concerts. The warm-up appearance at The Monto Water Rats in London, was their first in seven years. The band also performed at the 2010 Isle Of Wight Festival, Cornbury Festival and Glastonbury Festival.
We’re looking forward to seeing them at Melford Hall in May 2018.
