Organisers of a popular charity music festival are celebrating a record turnout despite the unseasonal conditions.
Peter Keogh, co-founder of the LeeStock festival, which took place at AFC Sudbury’s stadium on Sunday 3rd June, said a crowd of more than 800 music fans had made an effort to turn out in chilly and rainy conditions to support the event.
It was surely only a matter of time. We’ve produced t-shirts, CD’s, badges, festivals and pub crawls. We’ve had people sky-dive, tattoo themselves, eat exotic bugs and all other crazy things in the name of LeeStock and Willow Foundation.
It is to no-ones surprise that we have arrived at the perfect combination of charity giving and alcohol – the LeeStock Ale.
In an exciting link up with local brewers Nethergate, we are going to be selling a specially branded LeeStock Ale. With hints of awesomeness and undertones of charity, we are sure that this beer will please even the most refined palettes. We are hoping to launch the beer at the Sudbury Rugby Club Beer Festival, where we will also be offering discounted tickets, 2 for £35, so please come along and grab yourself two bargains – a beer and some tickets!
We have also confirmed that the beer will be on sale at the White Horse in Sudbury for consumption on the premises or to takeaway and at the Sudbury Snooker Club. We are also hoping to announce more outlets for the LeeStock beer shortly, so please keep checking here, on our Facebook page and on our twitter feed.
As part of our efforts to link up with similar events and spread the word of Lee and the Willow Foundation, we are delighted to announce that we have been invited along to the annual Sudbury Rugby Club Beer Festival.
Now in its 10th year, the Festival is held at the Rugby Club in Great Cornard and this year will feature over 40 beers and ciders, alongside some live music and hot food. This year’s festival will be held on Friday 4th and Saturday 5th May and at just £2.50 entry for adults and free entrance for children it really is a great day out.
As part of our link up with the Beer Festival this year, as well as donating 2 tickets to be raffled at a separate event, LeeStock will be selling tickets at the Festival on Saturday 5th May at a discounted price of £35 for two tickets – a saving of £5. So if you haven’t been to the Beer Festival before, please pop along and if you haven’t yet bought yourself a LeeStock ticket, come grab yourself a bargain on the 5th.
In time honoured tradition (and because when we come up with a good idea, we don’t bother thinking of new ones!) the LeeStock Fancy Dress Pub Crawl returns.
After previous successes including a Pantomime Horse, a bottle of Champagne and the A-Team, the theme this year is the Olympics. Starting at the Hare in Long Melford at around midday on Good Friday, the Crawl will take in the delights of Long Melford’s many drinking establishments before falling into Sudbury.
The event is very friendly and open to everyone (including non-drinkers!) so please feel free to join in. We will try to keep a regular update of latest pub / progress on our facebook event page and we will be finishing at the White Horse in Sudbury.
Please come along, have a drink (alcoholic or otherwise) and spread the LeeStock word. Tickets will be on sale on the day as well.
So there’s been a lot of fund-raising going on towards our donation to Willow this year, here’s a quick summary of what we’ve got so far:
A whole bunch of LeeStockers, led by Stephen Gerrish completed the Sudbury Fun Run. In total between Stephen’s collections and those donated at the pub, we made a very healthy £224 for the excellent Willow Foundation. Full photos can be found here. Continue reading →
So, coincidentally, the commencement of the LeeStock festivities this year coincides with the Royal event of the year – The Royal Wedding.
So on the 29th April, you can celebrate the marriage of Prince Wills and the delicious Kate Middleton, with a drink at each of the pubs on Long Melford high street and into Sudbury.
As always, the pub crawl will be in fancy dress and will be all about telling people about LeeStock with the occassional spot fine to drum up some funds for the astounding Willow Foundation. We’ll be starting at around midday and you can register interest by joining our facebook group here.
Alternatively please contact us here and we’ll be happy to answer any questions. If you haven’t been on one of our mega fun pub crawls before, please check out some of the silly costumes.
And finally, tickets are selling well so please get yours now online and from the White Horse, Sudbury. Don’t be disappointed!!
In case you weren’t aware, the Saturday of this year’s LeeStock will be headlined by Britpop giants Dodgy. We’re very excited about this and judging from the chat we had with them, they’re very excited too.
Here’s what they had to say:
In the 10 years that we were apart, loads of great little festivals, run by good decent people, raising cash for great causes have sprung up everywhere and now we’re back together we’re being asked to play them which is great for us as we LOVE playing live.
Leestock is especially good and the work the Willow Foundation do is amazing – helping seriously ill young people who should be in the prime of their lives forget about their problems for a day. Dodgy are proud to be playing Leestock this year and can’t wait
Excellent words from a great band. Remember if you don’t know about all the excellent work the Willow Foundation do, please visit their site here
